Grade 4 Math State Exam: Computer Based
Dear Parent/Guardian,
The New York State Department of Education is transitioning to computer-based testing (CBT) as part of its commitment to both meeting the needs of 21st century learners and improving test delivery, test integrity, scoring validity, and turn-around time on testing results. Computer-based testing simply means students take tests on a computer or iPad rather than on paper using a pencil.
The purpose of this letter is to inform you that this year PS 64Q will be participating in computer-based testing for fourth grade math. Your child will take the computer-based Grade 4 Mathematics assessment on May 4th and 5th, 2023. The NYS ELA Exam will still be paper based for this school year.
Teachers are developing and implementing learning opportunities to help prepare students for this shift in the NYS testing format. Fourth grade students have been participating in practice tests to become familiar with the computer-based testing platform, item types, and response formats they will see on the assessment. If you would like to review the computer-based practice tests at home, they are available at https://ny.nextera.questarai.com/tds/#practice.
Although change is always challenging, we are confident our teachers are making the adjustments necessary to ensure our students will be prepared in May for our New York State Assessments.
